Sooners’ season ends in Chapel Hill as North Carolina eliminates OU from NCAA Regional<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Oklahoma Sooners’ 2025 baseball season concluded with a 14-4 loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Chapel Hill Regional final of the NCAA Tournament. Despite a valiant effort to force a decisive Game 7, the Sooners were unable to overcome the Tar Heels’ offensive onslaught and pitching depth.<\/p>\n

After falling into the loser’s bracket, Oklahoma demonstrated resilience by defeating Nebraska 17-1 and then overcoming North Carolina 9-5 on Sunday, necessitating a winner-take-all game on Monday. However, the Tar Heels responded emphatically in the final matchup. North Carolina’s offense erupted early, scoring three runs in the first inning and maintaining pressure throughout the game.<\/p>\n

Key performances for the Tar Heels included Gavin Gallaher, who went 4-for-6 with two home runs and four RBIs, and Jackson Van De Brake, who contributed a home run and two RBIs. On the mound, Ryan Lynch provided a solid start, and freshman reliever Walker McDuffie delivered four innings of effective relief, combining to limit the Sooners to four runs.<\/p>\n
