\"Unrivaled\"<\/p>\n

This is the story of a crazy project that risks upsetting the landscape of American American female basketball. Co -founded by Breanna Stewart <\/strong>et Napheesa Collier<\/strong>the 3 \u00d7 3 “univaled” league aimed to invite the best players on the planet to participate in a competitive and lucrative mini-championship in the heart of winter. The idea is to offer another “circuit” outside the WNBA which takes place in summer, to the detriment of European women's basketball.<\/p>\n

The economic levers were activated, the most talented players of the planet responded, and the whole gave rise to a beautiful parenthesis of two months, at the end of which the Chelsea Gray basketball (and Angel Reese, injured just before the final phase), was crowned champion.<\/p>\n

The profitability threshold practically reached<\/h3>\n

Almost a month after the final, “UNRIVALED” shared its first assessment, and it is more than encouraging for the future. With 35 million dollars received in investment from generous donors like Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo or Carmelo Anthony, and more than 27 million revenues recorded, the first edition is rather a success.<\/p>\n

“We almost reached the profitability threshold the first year”<\/em>, said Micky Lawler<\/a>commissioner d\u2019Unrivaled. “We know that we can do better (…). \u201cThis is a lasting project. There is certainly an appetite and great support for that \u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Among the strongest pillars alongside the various sponsors, the most considerable effort was made by the TNT diffuser, for a still perfectible result for this first edition. On average, each regular season match gathered 221,000 viewers with a point at 377,000 during the match between Lunar Owls and Mist on February 14. The idea will of course be better in the future.<\/p>\n

For the players, the competition held its promises by offering advantageous remuneration. The League has notably spent $ 7 million in wages, for an average salary of $ 200,000 per player.<\/p>\n

Major projects for year II<\/h3>\n

The “UNRIVALED” league has laid solid foundations on which to work to improve the next edition and generate even more money. In particular, there was an agreement concluded at the end of the season with the WNBA union to develop revenues in “merchandising” products. Limited to 850, the number of places to attend the matches will also be increased.<\/p>\n

“This year, we sold for 1.4 or 1.5 million dollars of” merchandising “. How can we double or triple this figure by being simply more effective? Regarding ticketing recipes, we know that we will add places to our room. We want to remove the rear panel area where players enter and see on television, create more seats, which will increase our income from this point of view \u201d<\/em>said the president of the League Alex Bazell, who is also the husband of Napheesa Collier.<\/p>\n

Among the other points of improvement, the size of the rosters could be revised, and the city of Miami may no longer be the only meeting point. Two stages cities could be added, again offering more potential income.<\/p>\n

Finally, “Unrivaled” would of course think of attracting the best players, and we necessarily think of Caitlin Clark to join the roster next season, even if his name was not specifically mentioned by Alex Bazzell. “There are some obvious players that we know that we want to get for year 2”<\/em>. You could also think of the Paige Bueckers phenomenon, and why not Marine Johann\u00e8s for the show side.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
