A few hours after the death of Aaron Boupendza, passed by the Girondins de Bordeaux, the Chinese club of Zhejiang FC decided to maintain its championship match. During the meeting, the teammates of the Gabonese international even celebrated a goal, which shocked many Internet users.<\/p>\n

Zhejiang FC players were present on the lawn just hours after the drama. On Wednesday, when the world of football learned of the death of the Gabonese international Aaron Boupendza (28 years old), the team of the former Girondins de Bordeaux player maintained his Chinese first division match against the Meizhou Hakka.<\/p>\n

During this meeting, completed on the score of 2-2, the players of the Zhejiang FC celebrated at least one of their goal, as evidenced by a widely relayed video on social networks. What shock Internet users, taken aback to see such an attitude in these circumstances.<\/p>\n

A tribute after the match<\/h2>\n

In a more global way, the maintenance of this meeting a few hours after learning the disappearance of Boupendza, who died after a fall on the 11th floor of a building in the Megapol of Hangzhou (southeast of China), aroused a wave of indignation.<\/p>\n

As reported by local sources, the match took place in a heavy atmosphere, without any of the other foreign players of the club participating. Supporters chanted the name Boupendza, brandished his jersey or even lit the pocket lamp function of their mobile phones, before seeing the players and the staff of the Zhejiang FC go to meet them after the match, for a tribute to Boupendza.<\/p>\n

Captain of Zhejiang FC, Cheng Jin, visibly marked, politely shorted his television interview. “I'm sorry, it's not a lack of respect for you. But I really have nothing to say,” he said.<\/p>\n

The Spanish coach of the club, Raul Caneda, said at a press conference after the meeting having “nothing to say in the match”. “Football has no place in such a context,” he said via an interpreter.<\/p>\n

Hangzhou police have confirmed the death of Aaron Boupendza, saying that they “ruled out any criminal track” after an investigation including interrogations and the video surveillance image exam. The Zhejiang FC published a statement saying “to cooperate fully with the authorities in the investigation” on the death of the player.<\/p>\n

International Gabonese (35 selections, 8 goals), Boupendza, which only worn the jersey of the Bordeaux reserve team, has evolved in several other French clubs (Pau, Gaz\u00e9lec Ajaccio, Tours). He then played in Hatayspor (Turkey), Al-Arabi (Qatar) as well as FC Cincinnati (United States) and Rapid Bucharest (Romania) before joining the Zhejiang FC in January.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
