The great manitou of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Vince McMahon, announced on Friday that he retired, with a backdrop for an investigation into allegations of misconduct on his part.<\/p>\n
“While I approach 77 years, I feel it's time for me to retire as president and chief executive to WWE,” said McMahon, in a statement.<\/p>\n
“Over the years, it was a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, delight you, surprise you and always entertain you. I would like to thank my family for having greatly contributed to our success, and I also want to thank all of our 'superstars' and past employees and present for their dedication and their passion for our brand. \u00bb\u00bb<\/p>\n
“Most importantly, I would like to thank our supporters for allowing us to enter your home every week and to be your choice of entertainment. I have the deepest appreciation and admiration for our generations of amateurs around the world who loved, still like and, in some cases, love our form of sporting entertainment. \u00bb\u00bb<\/p>\n
\u201cWWE will continue to entertain you with the same fervor, the same dedication and the same passion. I am extremely confident in the continuous success of WWE, and I leave our business in the competent hands of an extraordinary group of superveys, employees and executives-in particular, the president and CO-PDG Stephanie McMahon and the CO-PDG Nick Khan. As a majority action, I will continue to support WWE in any way possible. \u00bb\u00bb<\/p>\n
\u201cI personally thank our community and commercial partners, our shareholders and our board of directors for their advice and support over the years. \u00bb\u00bb<\/p>\n
McMahon concluded the message with “Before. NOW. Always. Together \u201d, echoing the slogan of the company he built.<\/p>\n
McMahon left his duties as CEO and WWE president in mid-June, during an investigation into allegations of misconduct.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of July, the Wall Street Journal reported that McMahon has agreed to pay more than $ 12 million in the past 16 years to stifle allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity.<\/p>\n
Quoting sources informed of the files, the newspaper has argued that four women who had links with WWE have signed agreements prohibiting them from talking about their interactions with McMahon.<\/p>\n
Regarding the current investigation, McMahon has already said that he cooperates with it.<\/p>\n
McMahon was the leader and one of WWE's major faces for decades, establishing, among other things, the Wrestlemania and WWE Network.<\/p>\n
When he bought what was the Word Wrestling Federation of his father, in 1982, the matches were presented in small arenas. Last year, WWE revenues exceeded $ billion for the first time.<\/p>\n
