The European Union condemned on Monday the execution of Navid AFKARI. Accused of the murder of an official during demonstrations against the government in 2018, the 27 -year -old wrestler was executed this Saturday.<\/p>\n

“The EU condemns this execution in the strongest terms”,<\/em> said Peter Stano<\/strong>a spokesperson for the European Commission, in a press release. The wrestler, Navid Afkari<\/strong>barely 27 years old was sentenced to death and then killed this Saturday. He was accused of the murder of an official.<\/p>\n

“The EU is opposed to the death penalty in all circumstances and in any case without exception”<\/em>recalled Mr. Stano. “It is a cruel and inhuman punishment, which has no deterrent and which represents an unacceptable denial of human dignity and integrity”<\/em>he said.<\/p>\n

“Human rights remain a central element of our commitment with Iran. We will continue to dialogue with the Iranian authorities on this issue, in particular through the local representation of the EU in Tehran, as well as on individual cases such as this recent execution”<\/em>he added.<\/p>\n

In Berlin, a spokesperson for the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted that“There were considerable doubts about the rule of law in the procedure”<\/em>. “We also take the allegations very seriously according to which Navid Afkari has only admitted facts under torture”<\/em>she added.<\/p>\n

The human rights organization Amnesty International denounced the execution on Saturday “secret”<\/em> of Navid AFKARI, calling it to \u201cjustice parody\u201d<\/em> After a trial “Obviously inequitable”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The head of American diplomacy Mike Pompeo <\/strong>was also indignant against this execution “Cruel”<\/em>. Donald Trump,<\/strong> had asked Iran to save the sportsman. <\/p>\n
