His early professional experiences included roles at WCIL Radio in Carbondale, Illinois, and WMLA Radio in Bloomington, Illinois. These formative years honed his skills and set the stage for his future endeavors.
Auburn University: A New Chapter
In 1988, Burcham moved to Auburn, Alabama, to join the Auburn Network. He began as the play-by-play voice for Auburn women’s basketball, a role he held for 31 years. His tenure was marked by significant achievements, including covering Auburn’s appearances in three consecutive NCAA Tournament title games starting in 1988.
Burcham’s versatility as a broadcaster was evident as he expanded his roles. He served as the pregame and postgame locker room host for Auburn football since 1990 and was the play-by-play announcer for Auburn football pay-per-view and tape-delay broadcasts from 1992 to 2013.

In August 2019, following the tragic passing of Rod Bramblett, Burcham was named the lead announcer for Auburn football, men’s basketball, and baseball. He expressed his honor in succeeding Bramblett, acknowledging the legacy of broadcasters like Jim Fyffe and Rod Bramblett.
