The daily El Periodico revealed on Thursday an audio recording of the hearing of Gerard Piqué before the Spanish justice for his role in the negotiations of the agreement of the relocation of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.
On March 14, Gerard Piqué appeared for almost two hours before a judge of the Majadahonda court, in the suburbs of Madrid, for his role in negotiations of the contract between the Saudi company Sela and the Spanish football federation (RFEF).

Charged in an alleged corruption case, the ex-defenseman of Barça and La Roja denied before a judge having poured bribes to the former boss of Spanish football Luis Rubiales for the relocation of the Spanish Supercoupe in Saudi Arabia.
Almost a month later, the Catalan newspaper The newspaper This Thursday unveiled an audio recording of this hearing in which Piqué is crying for tears “damage” for its “reputation” caused by the media coverage of this case on Thursday. “I am surprised that to date, there are still leaks,” he regrets, visibly very marked.
“I fully understand that in Spain, people can see the Saudi question in one way or another, and I do not want to expand on this subject … in any other country in the world, and I do not want to receive a medal, they would make a statue in your effigy, but it is a very precious contribution,” he continues.
So still a Barça player, Piqué had served in 2019 as an intermediary via his company Kosmos in the relocation agreement of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia for some 40 million euros per year. This contract would bring him, via his company, four million euros per year, a commission considered as potentially fraudulent by the judge responsible for this case, which investigates a series of contracts concluded by the RFEF during the mandate of Rubiales, between 2018 and 2023.
During his long hearing, Piqué assured that he had “nothing” paid to Rubiales or to anyone from the Federation. Rubiales also denied having received money in an “irregular” manner in this other procedure. Records of conversations between Rubials and Pique broadcast in 2022 by the press had however revealed that the two men had well mentioned commissions of several million euros.
