
Jackie Morales hits three home runs in Notre Dame’s upset of Orange Lutheran
In a stunning display of power and poise, freshman Jackie Morales led Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High School to a 9–7 upset victory over Orange Lutheran in the opening round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 softball playoffs. Morales’ remarkable performance, which included three home runs, was instrumental in the Knights’ triumph over the Trinity League champions.
A Freshman Phenomenon
Jackie Morales, one of six freshmen on the Notre Dame roster, showcased her exceptional talent by delivering three home runs in a single game—a rare feat at any level of softball. Her third homer came in the top of the seventh inning, tying the game at 7–7 and setting the stage for the Knights’ comeback.
The Game Unfolds
Notre Dame maintained a lead for most of the game until Orange Lutheran rallied with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, taking a 7–6 advantage. Morales’ game-tying home run in the seventh was followed by RBI singles from freshman Keira Luderer and junior Ellayne Tellez-Perez, securing the Knights’ victory.

Luderer’s and Tellez-Perez’s timely hits in the seventh inning exemplified the team’s resilience and depth.
