Chris Williams joins the Palmer Cup coaching staff of Team USA.

Chris Williams, the associate head coach of Auburn University’s men’s golf team, has been named to the Team USA coaching staff for the 2025 Arnold Palmer Cup. This prestigious appointment marks a full-circle moment for Williams, who previously competed in the Palmer Cup as a player in 2011 and 2012. Williams expressed deep gratitude for his selection, stating, “It is an honor and privilege to have been selected to the coaching staff for the Arnold Palmer Cup. The Palmer Cup holds a special place in my heart as I competed in two of them in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, while playing alongside Auburn legend Blayne Barber, we were fortunate enough to meet and spend time with Mr. Palmer at the Stanwich Club. To this day, it is still one of the fondest memories of my golfing career. Since joining Auburn in the 2021–22 season, Williams has been instrumental in the Tigers’ ascent in collegiate golf. Elevated to associate head coach following the team’s SEC and NCAA Championship runs, he has helped guide Auburn to a historic season, including a 185-9-1 head-to-head record and a program-record 10 tournament victories. Under his mentorship, Auburn has produced several standout golfers, including Jackson Koivun, who became the only golfer to win the Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman Awards in the same season. (Amateur Golf)
