Ron, you discover this season the Nationale 2 with the Toac …
I am in this club. I get along well with the coach (Raphaël Pascual) and I am grateful to the team for giving me the opportunity to continue playing and stay in shape. I'm also happy to help the team win a few games. What is good is that the Toac has a family atmosphere in which I feel good.
Did your previous Toulouse experience (Toulouse stadium player in 2021/22) play a role in your choice to integrate the TOAC?
I arrived here for personal and family reasons. It was not to play basketball here particularly. I know the city well and I already had knowledge on site thanks to my past experience at the Toulouse stadium.
You have started your professional career between Argentina and G-League, but you have not left France since 2015. Why did you choose France during all these years?
My father, Ron Anderson (arrived in Montpellier in 1994 and resident of Nationale 3 until his 52 years) came to France to play in Pro A for several seasons. I was able to come to France at these times. I also came to spend time with my sister who was there at the start of my career. I wanted to get out of the United States and discover a different country with a different culture and a different language. I received several offers to play in Europe, but I chose to stay in France because my request for naturalization was still in progress. It was important for me to carry out this procedure.

Why did you want to obtain French nationality?
It was important for me to obtain dual nationality, like my daughter. My father, who has lived in France for over 20 years, has never obtained his dual nationality. It was therefore important for me to accomplish something that he could not do. This testifies to my commitment to the French Republic and my understanding of the country's cultural aspects. In addition, on a professional level, obtaining French nationality opens up more access to opportunities in France (quota of foreign players in the teams, editor's note).
What still motivates you today after so many years of high level career?
You could say that I am the ultimate competitor. Even at 35, I feel good. Last year in Quimper, I played 27 minutes per game. Same the year before, with Loon-Plage, especially in the title match against Poitiers where I played a lot because we were only 7. I knew very few injuries that have moved me away from the field for too long. I really want to continue giving my energy and experience to teams that have good projects.
How did you develop your game to stay efficient over time?
What changes especially after so many high -level years is experience. By being young, we have an appreciation of the game very different. We are in the reaction to movement and its speed, we have less time to think. Now I understand the game better and that's what makes the difference. For the rest, I always have confidence in my body and capacities.

With your hindsight and your experience, what do you look at the game and its evolution?
For me, it's a new basketball. Sport has changed in the sense that there are many more three -point shots, from first -line game. There are also much more possessions and shots in a match. It's much faster too. Before, we played a long system and we were trying to take a good shot. Today's players are also much more athletic. Personally, I like that there was this evolution.
What can you look at the evolution of French basketball as an American player who spent 10 years in the French championships?
As a American, I see an interesting link between these two countries on the sport. On the French side, we see more and more players who will play in the NBA and successfully. On the other hand, for example, with Tyson Ward, we organize networking camps in Bordeaux and Paris where American coaches will come to continue this mixture of cultures. There are still differences and the two sneakers do not merge either. For example, we saw two different styles competing in the Olympic Games with a French collective force against American individual forces.

What are your collective and personal goals this season?
The collective objective has evolved during the season. At the beginning, the club aimed at the French Cup in Bercy and also the fastest climb possible in NM1. In January, we knew a stop with the loss of our leader Xavi Forceda, which forced us to review our ambitions when we lost a few games. Personally, my goal is always to play as many games as possible and participate in the successes of my team.
What are your projects for next season?
Staying next season at toac is an option. I feel good here, I thank the club all the time for the opportunity they have given me. I always predispose myself to the highest level. I want to show the Pro B and NM1 teams that I am always able to play, as my recent performances show.

What my father has accomplished is simply incredible: being able to play so long is really legendary. I do not know if I will be able to play up to the fifties, but what I can say is that for the moment, at this precise moment, I am always motivated to play at a high level and get closer to its performance.
