Acharchour announces its retirement!
Faced with the growing controversy, Achechour decided to react by announcing, via his account X, that he was withdrawing from the after foot. In his press release, he expressed his deep disavowal concerning the angle of the debate, calling him dishonest. He notably criticized the report on which the program was based, written by two politicians whom he accuses of making Islamophobic remarks. According to Achechour, such a subject deserves more respectful treatment based on solid facts.
The latter also underlined his attachment to his personal values, including his culture, his religion, and the education of his parents, of which he is proud. Due to the context, he decided to take a step back from the show and said he was talking to management to find a solution, while respecting his professional obligations.

“Before expressing myself, I preferred to give myself time to reflect to explain what I have been feeling for several days.
I was obviously struck, like many, by the angle of the debate during the broadcast of the After Foot Thursday. For such an important subject, I cannot accept that the basis of the discussion is an approximate report, written by two policies that regularly use exclusively degrading and Islamophobic remarks.
I have always sought to unite the projects of the show, with kindness, especially when traveling in Africa or others and I do not find myself in this type of passages which conveys quite the opposite by dividing with a speaker who was essentially targeting only a religion with vehemence even when she was taken up by Nico Jamain.
I have always taken pleasure in exchanging football by putting my passion on it in each program in which I participated because that's why I joined the after football team. A program that I have listened to since Petit. I have always respected the luck that I was given to be on this program. But on subjects that affect the identity of millions of people (here Muslims), I cannot accept that it is done in this way by crossing this line full of shortcuts.
And even if the subject touches me directly, I am attentive and in the same logic for any remarks that can hurt those who listen to us or those with whom I share the tray every day or their families.
I dreamed of this job, I fought to get there and it is my work that allows me to speak football on the sets.
But I know that is also what I am and what I represent who are important to people who follow me and who push me from the start by recognizing themselves through my trajectory. I am linked to my country, to its values ​​and my convictions, my culture, my religion and the education of my parents, of which I have always been proud. I think I have shown it several times in my shows and I have always expressed my disagreements when there were.
I would also like to stop associating with any speaking, speaking in my place or trying to lower myself because I do not react in the minute, pretending that I share them or that I endorse them even more when I do not participate in the shows. As said before, I think I have shown that I was not hesitating to express myself when I had the opportunity and I will continue to do it if I feel the need. I am master of what I say and what I do.
