PSG will receive a nice UEFA check if it validates its ticket for the semi-finals of the Champions League on Tuesday, on the lawn of Aston Villa.
There is the obvious sporting issue, but there is also that of finance. Paris Saint-Germain has already gone massively this season by its results in the Champions League: around 58.2 million euros. In the lot, there are € 18.6 million for his simple participation, € 11 million for his qualification in the round of 16 and € 12.5 million for his presence in quarters, where he dominated Aston Villa in the first leg at home (3-1).
If he confirms in Birmingham Tuesday evening (9 p.m.) and qualifies for the semi-finals, PSG will receive an additional € 15 million. UEFA will then pay € 18.5 million to the two finalist clubs, and € 6.5 million to the big winner. The PSG “prize money” could therefore rise, in the best of worlds, at 97.7 million euros. Note that this amount does not include TV and marketing rights. On this point, UEFA will redistribute an envelope of € 853 million between the 36 clubs.
