“During the 2025-26 season, it will no longer be permissible to give the start of risky meetings, as happened for the match between Lazio and Roma“said the Italian Ministry of the Interior in the Italian Football Federation on Tuesday evening (FIGC). According to Italian agencies Ansa and AG, the Interior Ministry also struck Lazio and AS Rome supporters with a travel ban for the next three matches outside their teams.
These announcements follow the violent clashes between ultra Roman clubs and the police, before the “derby of the capital”, counting for the 32nd day of Serie A, which ended in a draw (1-1). Before the kick -off at 8:45 p.m., around 500 Ultras from Lazio and as many of Roma wanted to force the police dams set up in the neighborhoods around the Olympic stadium to prevent supporters from the two teams to compete.
Police back up the ultras, some of which were armed with iron bars and hammers, by deploying water launcher. Twenty-four were injured during these clashes, especially in the legs by stone jets. The police arrested six ultras, three from Lazio and three from Roma, which, initially, were struck by a stadium ban.
