A victory by 101 points! The French female basketball team wandered on Thursday, February 6, against Ireland in qualifying for the Euro Basketball (125-24). In Châlon-sur-Saône, the players of Jean-Aimé Toupane broke the record for the widest victory in the history of the selection which dates from 2002, with a success of 96 points against Tunisia (131-35).
Janelle Salaun finished best marker of the meeting with 19 points. In total, seven French women exceeded the 10 -point mark against Irish women who only managed six baskets (5/34 at two points, 1/15 at three points).
Beyond the scoring, the Bleues above all validated their qualification for the Euro, scheduled from June 18 to 29 through Europe (between Italy, Greece, Tchéquie and Germany). Silver medalists at the Paris Olympic Games last summer, the French have not won a euro since their title in 2009.
