It was later reported that Inter Miami held its Discovery Rights in MLS, which would mean that there is at least one semi-legitimate possibility that it joins Miami. However, the current situation of the club as a designated player would make it difficult, unless De Bruyne is ready to accept a substantial drop in salary to play alongside Lionel Messi and his teammates in South Beach.
The Fire, meanwhile, has the possibility of adding a designated player alongside the current stars Jonathan Bamba and Hugo Cuypers, but he would have to acquire his rights from Miami.
