Season Overview

Notre Dame Academy’s girls lacrosse team concluded a remarkable 2025 season by advancing to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) state semifinals. With a final record of 17-2, the Pandas showcased exceptional skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the season.

The Pandas commenced their season with an impressive 13-game winning streak, demonstrating dominance on both offense and defense. Key victories included wins over Lexington Catholic (15-2), South Oldham (14-6), and North Oldham (18-1). Their only regular-season loss came against Ursula Academy from Ohio, ending their undefeated run.

Offensive Prowess

Senior midfielder Hannah Powers led the offensive charge, setting a program record with 93 goals. Midfielder Georgi Kirtley contributed significantly with 50 goals and 28 assists, while Andrea Carothers added 33 goals and 17 assists. Hannan Dusing led the team in assists with 34, showcasing the team’s depth and unselfish play.

Defensive Strength

Defensively, the Pandas were anchored by senior goalkeeper Grace Panko, who recorded 94 saves and maintained a goals-against average of 6.5. The defense was further solidified by players like Corryn Kohls and Bella Iles, who consistently disrupted opposing offenses.

Path to the Semifinals

In the postseason, Notre Dame Academy continued their strong performance. They secured the Fifth Region championship with a decisive 16-8 victory over Cooper High School. In the state tournament, they defeated South Oldham (15-4) in the opening round and Oldham County (11-5) in the quarterfinals.

Semifinal Showdown

The semifinal match against Sayre was a tightly contested battle. The Pandas found themselves trailing 5-2 after the first quarter and 6-3 at halftime. Despite a valiant effort to close the gap, they ultimately fell 10-8, marking their first loss to an in-state opponent that season.
