The Rhône derby between Saint-Etienne and Lyon, counting for the 30th day of Ligue 1, was suddenly stopped this Sunday at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. While the atmosphere was so far festive despite the absence of Lyon supporters, an isolated gesture was enough to tip this beautiful poster. In the 44th minute, the main referee François Leteixier made a strong decision: stopping the match and returning the two teams to the locker room.
An assistant referee injured by the sidelines
The origin of this interruption: assistant referee Mehdi Rahmouni was touched at the head by a piece launched from the stands. Immediately taken care of, however, he seemed to work and exchange, although one or more suture points are to be considered. But the severity of the gesture has left no room for doubt. In a concern for security and respect for the arbitral body, the meeting was suspended a few seconds from the break.
Saint-Etienne led to the score, uncertainty reigns
Before this incident, the Greens led 1-0 thanks to a goal scored in the 10th minute by Lucas Stassin.
