Ineligible because he will not reach 65 games, Victor Wembanyama will not win the Dpoy trophy. A boon for Draymond Green, obviously ready to do anything to win the Grail in stride.
There are less than 10 days left in this regular season in the NBA, which means that journalists and others will have to decide for individual trophies very soon. We do not yet know the name of the MVP even if according to ESPN, it is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who would have an advantage. For the Dpoy, it is still the total blur.
And yet in February, the future winner seemed quite clear in the person of Victor Wembanyama. He has largely proven that he was the best defender in the league, completely changing the Spurs and accumulating the counter to the shovel. Note that he is still a large leader in this ranking and this with less than 50 games played on this campaign.

But his absence benefits other players and has the merit of relaunching the trophy. The riders want Evan Mobley to win, while the Spurs believe that Weby should benefit from an exception. Dyson Daniels seems to be the most deserving in the Hawks, but he will have to be wary of Draymond Green, in the middle of a media campaign.
After claiming the Dpoy in his podcast, believing that he was the favorite, he did the same on the Espn set. He even thinks that this is his last chance:

Play on the guilt of voters to have the Dpoy? Funny outing for Green, who wants to make it clear that it is probably the last time he could win the trophy before the return of Wemby, or Chet Holmgren once he is eligible. We also wonder if ESPN intends to invite Daniels or Mobley to discuss their file.
But the supporters are not fooled.

Draymond Green clearly comes to claim the Dpoy and after his podcast, he uses the media to increase his chances. And yet, as some fans explain, difficult to do better than Dyson Daniels in this campaign.
