On Monday, in Pennsylvania, the John and Matthew Gaudreau brothers were brought to their last rest in front of families and friends gathered for the occasion a week and a half after their tragic deaths.
The two brothers lost their lives when they were caught up in an alleged drunk driver when they were cycling in New Jersey on August 29.
The same evening, in Calgary's scotiabank saddledome, WWE presented its weekly Raw edition live in front of Alberta supporters and a tribute to “Johnny Hockey” was inevitable as he was a very popular door of Calgary's flames for nine seasons.
It is the popular Quebec wrestler Sami Zayn who put on the deceased chanda #13 during a segment implicating another very popular figure in Calgary: Bret “The Hitman” Hart.
The simple presence of the Gaudreau's sweater launched the crowd in a long acclamation while the name Johnny resonated inside the Saddledome for long moments.
WWE also invited journalist Jackie Redmon during her broadcast to explain Gaudreau's life and career in addition to her impact on the community in Calgary.
It was an opportunity to see, on the screen, the hundreds of sweaters and items left by amateurs in honor of Gaudreau and his family.
As for the Flames this season, they will play a first home game on October 12 against the philadelphia flyers. We bet that other tributes will be on the program.
